| SPARTA, February 28, 2006 - Experience and ethics . . . both are necessary
characteristics to be an effective representative. Fifty-eight-year-old
Jack Conaway of Sparta has spent most of his life providing public service. His experience includes honorable service in the
United States Air Force; working as a provider, researcher and educator of emergency
medical services; government budget and management control; and as a county planner. Jack was a deans list scholar at the
University of Central Florida where he earned a BA in Sociology and also studied Public
Policy. He has won the trust of those around
him by consistently being fair and respectful. This
is a very important time for North Carolina, and there are many issues that we must
address. It is imperative that we work to
restore trust in our state government. We
must foster the conditions for economic growth by identifying wasteful spending, rolling
back the recent gasoline tax increase and ensuring that our infrastructure is in good
condition. We have the responsibility to provide the best possible educational resources
for our children and workforce. And, it is
vital that we continue to support our first-responders in their effort to provide for our
safety and wellbeing.
Jack
Conaway is married to the former Wanda Bridges of Boiling Springs, NC. Wanda is a staff nurse at the Wake Forest
University Baptist Medical Center. They have
a son, Paul, who lives and works in South Carolina. When
elected, Jack will represent the needs and interest of the citizens of Alleghany and
western Surry Counties.
